Hot Buttered Rum and Raisin

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup raisins
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 60ml dark rum
  • cinnamon stick, to garnish (optional)
  • SPICED BUTTER
  • 1½ teaspoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
  • small pinch each: cinnamon, nutmeg and allspice
If you're a hot cross bun fan, then you'll love this warm liquid version with its spiced butter and raisin flavours marrying up nicely with dark rum. Serves 1
  1. For the spiced butter: Mix all ingredients together and then place in the bottom of a mug.
  2. For the cocktail: Steep the raisins in the boiling water until they’re plump. Blitz in a blender and then fine strain the liquid (twice if necessary) and discard solids. Heat the liquid in a small pot or microwave until hot and then pour over the spiced butter in the glass. Add rum and stir well. Garnish with a cinnamon stick, if desired
