Celebrate summer

Savouring the solstice

When the Liquorland team were invited to Tuatara to create their own seasonal beer, they jumped at the chance

The summer solstice has been celebrated as a pagan festival for thousands of years, with monuments like Stone Henge built to make the most of the longest day. Here at Liquorland, we also like to make the solstice special, but we're more about long days relaxing with friends than heavy lifting, so a custom-made beer to share exclusively with our customers seemed like a great move.

We sent a team down to the Tuatara brewery, just north of Wellington, to turn their hand at heaving hops and mashing malts. Using Pacific Jade hops with French Farmhouse Ale yeast, we also combined the warmth of ginger and a zing of kaffir lime leaves. The result is Tuatara Solstice 2015: Spiced Saison - a spicy, refreshing, hop-heavy beer with a citrus finish; and at 5.2% it's a great start to your night, not a sticky end.

Available exclusively at Liquorland while stocks last, you can also enjoy Tuatara Solstice draught at a select number of bars nationwide, including Brew On Quay, Auckland, The Third Eye, Wellington, Kaizuka, Christchurch and Inch bar, Dunedin.
