Nelson is well known for its wine industry, and Tohu Sauvignon Blanc is one of the jewels in the crown
The wine industry is raising a glass to Nelson's Tohu Wines. At the recent prestigious Decanter World Wine Awards 2021, the winery won a Gold Medal for its delicious Sauvignon Blanc.
Aromatic and fresh, Tohu Sauvignon Blanc is a very popular bottle of this wine style, which is New Zealand's most widely-planted variety. It's a proud moment for Tohu winemaker Bruce Taylor. "As kaitiaki, or guardians of our lands, we have spent a lot of time on our vineyards, understanding and nurturing each of the blocks," he says.
This intimate knowledge of the land means Tohu wines have a unique New Zealand spirit that's rapidly gained a name for itself globally.
To make the best of your sauvignon blanc, pour it into a glass that has a narrower aperture than the traditionally wide-bodied red wine glass. When sipping from a slimmer vessel, the wine tends to stay away from the sides of the mouth, which picks up the acidity. The shape also holds the aroma in the glass.
