Giesen Wine

Spotlight on: Giesen Wines

Great wine. Great people. Great times. We take a look at a family wine label with a lot of love at its core

Growing up in Germany as the sons of a stonemason may not be the most likely start for the founders of a New Zealand winery, but when you look closer, wine is practically running in Theo, Alex and Marcel Giesen’s veins. For centuries, their family members have been involved in the culinary and wine trades, as sommeliers, restaurateurs and other related careers. As youths, the boys had a hobby vineyard that first ignited their interest in grapes.

As adventurous young men, the three Giesen brothers travelled the world settling in New Zealand, agreeing that Marlborough was the ideal place to grow grapes.

From their first vintage the Giesen brothers created great wines and so the world fell in love with Giesen Estate Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. The brothers are always looking for something new and now craft an extensive range of wines so they offer something for every occasion.

When work is done, the three brothers love getting together with family and friends; sharing a meal, enjoying a wine and celebrating another day.  They invite you to do the same.
