But there’s so much more to this Marlborough winery – there’s also a fascinating history that goes back to the very first migrations to New Zealand.

Pā Road’s owner and founder Haysley MacDonald traces his Māori ancestry back to the earliest arrivals to this country, some 800 years ago.

His family have lived on the land there ever since, with many cousins and his parents still living in the lower Wairau area (referred to by locals in the know as ‘down the Pā’).  

The Pā Road wines were launched to critical acclaim in 2016, and have gone from strength to strength ever since. Known for being crisp, clean and food-friendly, the wines are on track to become a household name here in New Zealand.
