Mix and match

It’s week three of the World Cup, make sure you’ve got your team drinks ready.

Japan

The land of the rising sun have certainly risen to the challenge, but they need to pace themselves – as will you if you want to be awake for this match. Japan is famed for its dry drafts, pick an Asahi for a steady evening and an exciting game.

Canada

Their next match is a civilised mid-morning affair, so why not offer your friends a post-game elevensies of whiskey cake, made with a dose of Canadian Club. This whiskey was famously a favourite of Al Capone, but was made across the river from Detroit in a purpose-built town, 'Walkerville', Ontario, to avoid US prohibition laws.

France

Champagne is a classic breakfast treat; and how better to enjoy watching the French? Over croissants with a glass of something light and sparkling. We recommend Moet for the quintessential French experience, but Brown Brothers Sparkling Moscato is a refreshing alternative.

Tonga

Many of us island lovers will be rooting for Tonga in this match, not just because of the close connection we have with the nation, but also because of all those great holiday memories we have. Why not recreate them in your front room with a Tequila Sunrise.
