Back In Black

Steinlager celebrates its 60th birthday with the launch of new Steinlager Black, a bright and crisp black lager

It’s 60 years since New Zealand’s iconic Steinlager beer launched. To celebrate this huge occasion, Steinlager have created a special edition black lager.

POLITICALLY CHARGED

More than just a reference to our national sporting teams, black sand beaches and reputation for dressing dark – Steinlager Black plays tribute to 1958 when Steinlager (originally launched as Steinecker) was created in response to the challenge laid down by Arnold Nordmeyer in the infamous Black Budget, limiting beer imports and creating an opportunity for New Zealand to make its own world-class lagers.

DON’T LOOK BLACK

The rest is a refreshingly crisp history, with Steinlager Classic being joined by Steinlager Pure and Steinlager Tokyo Dry. Now there’s new kid on the block, Steinlager Black, which may be dark and mysterious in colour, but inside you’ll discover a bright and crisp lager, with amplified, full flavour, dry hop complexity, and a refreshing bitter finish. “Black lagers are rare in New Zealand, and I expect beer drinkers will find it surprisingly refreshing,” says Lion beer ambassador Kurt Gross. “What better way to celebrate 60 years of Steinlager than with the release of another world-class brew.”  RRP $29.99, 12-pack 330ml
