Winter Sangria with Pear and Cranberries

Ingredients

  • 1 lemon
  • 1 teaspoon whole cloves
  • 3 pears, cut into thin wedges
  • 1 cup white rum
  • 1 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon freshly grated ginger
  • 1 bottle sparkling wine (such as Prosecco)
  • 1 litre sparkling water
  • 1 cup cranberries (frozen or fresh)

Makes 1 pitcher (serves 6)

  1. Slice the lemon into 8 wedges and poke a couple of cloves into each one. Place in an airtight container and add the pears, rum, nutmeg, and ginger. Seal with the lid and leave in the fridge for a few hours to infuse.
  2. Just before serving, pour the rum mixture into a pitcher. Add the sparkling wine and the cranberries. Top with the sparkling water (as much as you need depending on your pitcher size) and mix together gently.
