beer to try

What we're sipping: Tuatara Sauvinova

After watching Tuatara sweep up a heap of awards at the 2016 Brewers Guild of New Zealand Beer Awards on Saturday night, we've found ourselves becoming quite fond of one of their winning brews

Top New Zealand Lager, Pale Ale, Wheat and Other Grains and Champion New Zealand Brewery. Wow Tuatara, you well and truly cleaned up. And we couldn't be prouder!

Tuatara's Sauvinova, which took out the Pale Ale category at the 2016 Brewers Guild of New Zealand Beer Awards (a seriously big deal considering how popular pale ale is in New Zealand) has been our brew of choice this week. We think it should be yours too. Check out some of its best personality traits below:

Kiwis are notorious for developing an enthusiasm for local commodities only after a thumbs up from the more discerning parts of the world. In the case of Nelson Sauvin hops we think that’s a little unfair.  Tuatara and Sauvin were released into the world at about the same time so we knew them back in the day.  We’re celebrating with Sauvinova, a single hop pale ale exploding with the distinctive tropical gooseberry notes that made it’s Sauvignon Blanc namesake famous.

Taste: Full malt body copiously hopped with Nelson Sauvin displaying mouthwatering gooseberry, pineapple and grapefruit flavours. Balanced bitterness.

Try with: salmon and asparagus, oysters, goats cheese
